2024 was our first full year as a registered, standalone charity, after years of being run internally by Commonfolk. Our community showed up. Together we raised $137,938 in donations to support coffee farming communities and young people finding their way into work.
Most of that came through Commonfolk, with $80,638 from brewed coffee and $18,734 from roasted coffee, including contributions through our partner Kua Coffee. A further $38,315 came from general donations.
$30,000 went to Zukuka Bora Coffee Company on Mt Elgon, Uganda, supporting more than 1,200 coffee farmers. Closer to home, $12,500 went to Tanti Park Social Enterprises, funding training and employment pathways for young people at Home Ground in Mornington.
We also took a big step in how we support origin. A $229,000 social impact loan let us pre-pay Zukuka Bora's entire harvest, so they could buy more coffee upfront and support more farmers than staggered payments would allow. Commonfolk then bought that coffee at a 5% premium, creating extra funds for our work.
None of it happens without our 30 volunteers.
